Splice-Cream Truck Mobile Listening & Conversation Event

Join Zygote Press and artist Benjamin Smith for a free, open-to-the-public immersive extension of Zygote’s latest exhibition, A Clearing: Word, Image, Body.

For a decade, multimedia artist and truck owner Ben Smith has been using analog recording equipment in a refurbished ice cream truck to record community member’s stories from around Cleveland. He will be bringing the Splice-Cream truck to Zygote Press for a one-of-a-kind exhibit and immersive experience on wheels. As an extension of Zygote Press's exhibition, A Clearing: Word, Image, Body, the Splice-Cream Truck becomes a clearing in motion: taking the exhibition's questions, music, and voices beyond the gallery and into different locations across Cleveland. The truck and seating area will be themed around the concept of a clearing in the woods, designed to be both physically and mentally engaging. Artwork, music, and voices recorded by Ben for several of his projects will be on display and there will be space to gather, share, and enjoy good company.
